Teaching Bible Authors to Children Helps Them Grow in Confidence and Faith
Teaching the Bible Authors to Children can feel challenging, especially when we want to make deep truths simple enough for young hearts to understand. Over the years, I’ve learned that the best guides for teaching children are often children themselves. Their questions open the door for meaningful conversations, and their curiosity helps us reflect on what we believe.
When a child asks a question, it becomes the perfect moment to speak into their heart. Their curiosity challenges us and sharpens our own understanding of God’s Word. Scripture is rich and deep, yet simple enough for even the youngest child to grasp.
Below is a child-friendly way to explain how the authors of the Bible wrote God’s story and how the Bible came together.
How to Explain the Bible’s Authors to a Child
You might say:
“Did you know God’s story was put together in a group of books called the Bible? HIS story has sixty-six different parts written by different people. These people all knew God. They were God’s friends, and they lived a long time ago. They wrote down what they saw and heard.
It’s like if all your friends wrote something about you. Each friend would write something different because they know you in different ways. That’s how the Bible is. God had many friends who wrote about Him at different times and in different places. They wrote about what God did in their lives, and all of their writings came together into one big book — the Bible.”
Help Children Find the Answers and Learn About the Bible Authors with Them
If your child asks more questions afterward, that’s wonderful. It means they’re listening and want to understand. And if you don’t know the answer, it’s completely fine to say:
“I don’t know, but we can find out together.”
This teaches your child that learning about God is a lifelong adventure — full of discovery, curiosity, and growth.
God is the Creator of the universe, and understanding His story is something that can bless an entire lifetime.
Keep Teaching With Confidence
As you teach and train your children, remember:
“You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.” — Philippians 4:13
“It is not too hard for you.” — Deuteronomy 30:11–14
God equips you with everything you need.
